What is Lateral Spread (LS) Perennial Ryegrass?
Ordinary perennial ryegrass germinates fast but spreads slowly. It is a bunch-forming grass that spreads by vertical shoots,
Specially bred LS Perennial Ryegrass aggressively spreads by rhizomes (horizontal stems.) That is why it is even more valuable for lawn growers than ordinary perennial ryegrasses. If you want a good lawn, sow grass that quickly creates a uniform carpet. It is better than sowing a slow-spreading clumpy one.
Kentucky Bluegrass
This component of Premium Plus LS is a great companion to LS Perennial Ryegrass in Canadian Climate. Why? Because being slow to germinate, Kentucky Bluegrass alone would be poorly competitive with fast-germinating weeds. Quickly spreading LS Perennial Ryegrass provides good protection to Kentucky Bluegrass against the weeds. Under this protection, Kentucky Bluegrass better germinates and develops the turf.
Kentucky Bluegrass is a sturdy species to fight diseases and tolerate drought and wear. The components merge up together well.
